Love God: “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30)
The church, all those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior and follow the teachings of the new law as explained in the Bible, is an inspiration from God. He intended for the church to exist to bless lives, just as He has blessed us. In exacting that phenomenon, it is vital to know the very truth that was uttered by William Anders, a NASA astronaut, who announced during a live television broadcast from lunar orbit, “In the Beginning, GOD…” (Genesis 1:1). The affirmation of God’s involvement in all that we see around us is critical in our understanding of God loves for us. The famed writer G. K. Chesterton once remarked, “It has been often said, very truly, that religion is the thing that makes the ordinary man feel extraordinary; it is an equally important truth that religion is the thing that makes the extraordinary man feel ordinary.” So, we exist here at Twin City to share that phenomenon with others, through our love of God—showcased through lives lived for Christ. We believe, that only through God, are we extraordinary.
Love One Another: “For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Galatians 5:14)
Church ought to be a Community! The practice of the earliest Christians is crucial if we are to understand their thought process. “And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And all who believed were together and had all things in common…And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes” Acts 2:42-44,46). Notice the appearance of words like fellowship, together, and had all things in common? We believe that the church is a gathering of like-minded people to experience the joy of togetherness, so we too can go out and share that same joy with others. And concerning the concept of community/family/fellowship, Albert Einstein said it best, “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” At Twin City, we strive to exist for other members of our family to the Glory of God.
Love our World: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
At Twin City, we as a congregation are committed to the application of this commandment, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22: 37,39). We exist to love God, to foster a close community of believers, and to love one another. We exist to provide an avenue of love, of care, of genuine concern for our fellow man, based on our conviction that while we were still sinning, and rotting in our own selfishness, God sent Jesus to die for us (Romans 5:8). We’re here to transform lives through Christ for God’s glory. We do this by sharing the good news of the life, the suffering and the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord, and by showcasing the righteousness and holiness of God through our lives. It was Thomas Carlyle who invoked the famous line, “Conviction is worthless unless it is converted into conduct.” Our hope at Twin City is to uphold and act upon our conviction that God loves man, and we are to love our fellow man.
Jefferson County Rescue Mission
We provide food items and other items for this wonderful effort. Some of our members are active volunteers at the ‘Mission’. Our youth collect items to help the mission out as well.
Corozal School (Belize)
This wonderful effort is supported by the Twin City family. Folks from the congregation have been actively participating in this work for many years. Several trips a year is undertaken by these wonderful workers to facilitate the school with needed aid and help. The investment that these wonderful workers put into the work in Belize is simply amazing.
Honduras
Twin City has been involved with the Honduras work for a few years, in the area of Corquin & Potrerillos, in the Copan area. Part of the work in Potrerillos focuses on equipping the locals (beginning with the members) with the skills to farm. This goal is to help the folks be self-sufficient.
Ne-O-Tez Camp
We also support the wonderful work at Camp Ne-O-Tez. This is a special place indeed.
We are excited that your time on the internet has brought you to this site. We want to invite you to worship with our family here at the Twin City Church of Christ. We meet on Sundays and Wednesdays for Bible study time, worship, praise, prayer and fellowship. Communion is served here every Sunday. We also enjoy a variety of social and service events throughout the year and invite you to join us. When you come to study God’s Word and worship with us, you can expect to enter a building alive with conversation, smiles, and hugs. Children of all ages are welcome. Classes are provided for all ages every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
Parents are welcome to visit their children’s classes any time. During worship times, we work to create a peaceful time for each person to commune individually with God. We praise God with our voices, lift up prayers in the name of Jesus Christ, glean lessons from the Bible, and every first day of the week we offer communion and remember the death that saved us. Whether you have been brought up in the Scriptures, just recently claimed Christ as your Lord and Savior, or have never opened a Bible, we pray that you come and praise God with us, ask questions to find deeper understanding, and thank God for the gift of Jesus Christ. We look forward to meeting you.
In Christ,
Elders.
