Who We Are

We are a body of believers who are a part of the Kingdom of God. Our goal is to be “Christians only.” The membership here is made up of people of varied backgrounds. The common faith we have in God and the supreme authority of His Word keep us united as a family. Our membership has great faith in the men selected from within our family to serve as Elders and Deacons, leading and equipping the membership. These are men selected in accordance with the directions given in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

We are committed to following Biblical teaching as we worship our God. Jesus said “God is Spirit and Truth” John 4:24. We strive to encourage people to worship God in Spirit and through a life lived in accordance with His commandments. We also encourage one another to express love for God by worshipping with a Godly attitude. (Mark 12:30; Deuteronomy 6:5)

Worship

One of the precious things about Twin City is our worship. It is unique in that we sing ‘a cappella; which is the simple application of our voices in unison to accomplish a memorable voicing of our praise to Almighty God. The joy of worshipping God with our hearts and voices blended together is uplifting and personal.

The sermon is usually around 25-30 minutes long. Our prayer is that the lesson is solely Bible driven and that it will inspire you. Time is also set aside on each Lord’s Day to remember the life, suffering, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, or the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 11:23-26). You may participate with us in recognizing the Lord’s sacrifice for us if you so desire. And if you do not wish to take part, you will not offend us in any way.

We also participate in a weekly financial collection, (2 Corinthians 9:6-9) in which trays will be passed around. As our guest, you are not expected to participate in this offering. Feel free to pass the plate down the row. Following the lesson, the minister will extend an invitation, which is a call and an invite to those desiring help—be it a commitment to God, or prayers for self/loved ones, or to share a blessing that God has overwhelmed their lives.

What we Teach

Paul the apostle stated emphatically, “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2)—which is the same urgency that we believe and teach here at Twin City. All we are, and everything that builds us and sustains us, and inspires us, is derived from Christ and His Cross. We believe that salvation is a free gift from God to all those who seek Him as Lord. The obedient death of Christ on the cross is the only sufficient payment for our sins. Everyone has sinned and everyone can be saved from the eternal punishment for sin, (Romans 3:23 & 6:23; John 3:16). The Bible tells us those who choose to accept this free gift should repent of their shortcomings and in obedient faith submit to be baptized by immersion—Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38.

What we Believe

We believe that the human dilemma is exactly as Paul described, “For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23, which leads to another of Paul’s affirmation concerning the human dilemma, “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do” Romans 7:15. Given that knowledge, we strive as a family to make the necessary changes in our lives. First, we understand the common enemy we have, and again the words of Paul offer us an awareness, “Because the mindset on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so and those who are in the flesh cannot please God” Romans 8:7-8 (NAS). And we as a family, desire to please God.

We are therefore sold on the belief that we can change because of the Cross of Christ. “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” Galatians 2:20. Despite the power of sin, we believe in the overwhelming power of the Cross. And through the power of the Cross, we are “…being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:18). The Spirit of Life, Christ’s Spirit, becomes our life force. And it is that force that we depend on to make a difference for God.

Finally, we simply believe this to be true: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, that is the ‘Good News.’
